This is for 5th graders only who would like to learn to play an orchestra instrument! Most schools start teaching band and orchestra in 4th or 5th grade, but AVA students don't learn them until 6th grade, so this will give them the chance to start early and get ahead. Orchestra instruments are violin, viola, cello, and bass.

Mrs. Knestis has two of each of these instruments of different sizes that are AVA owned for students to borrow for the length of the club, so families do not need to rent/purchase instruments (unless there are more than two students who'd like to try an instrument). The school owns one upright string bass, this instrument is large and more difficult transport, so if a student chooses to play it, they will need to rent their own instrument for at home use. Mrs. Knestis also has books that students can use for the length of the club, but may need to purchase more.

This group will perform at our Quarter 4 band and orchestra concert on the evening of Weds, May 8th.Dates: 3-28 (optional since clubs don't actually start until the following week), 4-4, 4-11, 4-18, 4-25, 5-2, concert 5-8Time: 4:00p.m. to 5:00p.m.
