BEFORE YOU ENROLL in your selected session, you will have to purchase your permit at the Ada County License Department located at 400 N Benjamin. The student MUST be 14 ½ years old to purchase a permit and participate in our program. PERMITS MUST BE PURCHASED BEFORE YOU REGISTER FOR CLASS. ITEMS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A PERMIT: 1) TO PROVE DATE OF BIRTH, EACH STUDENT MUST PRESENT: A CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE AT THE TIME THE PERMIT IS PURCHASED. 2) PHOTO IDENTIFICATION (student activity card, military ID, or passport). 3) VERIFICATION of COMPLIANCE letter. You must pick this up from the secretary at your child’s school. The Ada County License Department will only accept a written verification on a school letterhead with the principal’s signature or designee, and the school seal or stamp affixed. Home schooled students (Must be homeschooled for 1 year +) will require an affidavit from the DMV which must be signed by their parents. 4) SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS will be required for the issuance of a driver education permit. When going to obtain your permit make sure you have a legal parent with you as both parent and student have to sign for the permit. Students are required to take and pass a vision test to receive a permit. ***Tell the staff at the Ada County License Department to send the permit to Boise School District
